What to Expect When You Hire a Professional Organizer: The Organizing Process Explained

1. It All Starts With a Phone Call

The first step in my professional home organizing process is a quick but essential phone call. We’ll discuss your needs, goals, budget, and timeline—because nothing beats real-time communication for clarity and efficiency. Texts and emails can create unnecessary back-and-forth; a short call lets us quickly understand whether we’re a good fit.

2. Two Service Options: Design Consultation or “Just Get It Done”

Once you’re ready to move forward, we’ll schedule a session that works for your situation. You can choose:

  • Organizational Design Consultation: Ideal if you're looking for a custom strategy and layout planning.

  • “Just Get It Done” Session: Our most popular option—this includes everything from sorting, cleaning, and hands-on organizing to product research and even donation haul-away. Many clients love this because it’s action-oriented and results-driven.

3. Your Role in the Process

If you're downsizing or decluttering, we’ll need your input for “keep or let go” decisions. But here’s the best part: you don’t need to organize with us. Whether you're working from home, watching the kids, or stepping out for errands, we take care of the lifting.

4. A Judgement-Free, Step-by-Step Decluttering Approach

We never tackle everything at once. Instead, we organize methodically—one area at a time. Pulling everything out might look great on social media, but in real life, it creates chaos and stress. We don’t believe in leaving a mess behind. Our approach ensures real progress by the end of each session, not just piles of stuff left for later.

5. Tools and Products That Make a Difference

While we bring our own tool kit and cleaning supplies to every session, we don’t push products. That said, when the right product can make a space more functional, we often recommend:

  • Uniform hangers (for closet harmony)

  • Stackable bins with lids

  • Turntables for pantries and kitchen cabinets

  • Drawer organizers for kitchens and bathrooms

  • Large fabric or natural baskets for toys and clothing closets

  • Clear bins with lids for garages or storage rooms

We also design organizing systems tailored to each home’s unique needs during our consultation phase.

Organized, Without the Overwhelm

Our clients love how we create a calm, practical process—no unrealistic promises or chaos. Just thoughtful planning, real results, and systems you can maintain over time. - Isabella
