How I Started Girl With A Truck™
Hi! I’m Isabella. I always get the question, “How did you start Girl With A Truck?”
Back in August 2006, I was in between jobs and searching for work when the idea for Girl With A Truck™ was born. I started out with a 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, offering hauling services. I made it official in February 2007 for my 35th birthday with a business license. Within the first couple of years, the business evolved to include packing, unpacking, and home organizing, before home organizing was even a popular thing.
At the time, the concept was considered innovative, and in 2009 I received a Innovator Award at the Oakland Indies Business Awards.
I also learned how to run a business with the help of the Women’s Initiative for Self-Employment, which helped me trademark the Girl With A Truck™ name. Through the organization, I received a Woman on the Rise Award in 2010.
In 2012, I re-branded the business as Bella Organizing so I could phase out hauling, which, admittedly, was never actually part of my original business plan; it was simply what happened at the time. Over the years, I became known for my home organizing skills.
And now, Girl With A Truck™ is back. The name has come full circle, and today I’m driving a 2024 Toyota Tacoma hybrid truck. Along the way, I’ve also had the pleasure of being featured in San Francisco Magazine, Sunset Magazine, Carmel Magazine, and more.
