1. Rotate in Fresh Drinking Water - Do this every six months for maximum freshness and to prevent toxic leaching from store-bought plastic bottles. Keep larger amounts of emergency water stored longer in the basement or garage in sturdy containers.
2. Water Filter - My favorite is the Platypus 4-liter water filter. Use it for camping and place it in your emergency kit when you get home. It rolls up small, weighs 11.5 ounces, and filters water anywhere. This one is extremely light and easy to carry around.
